Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Jackets Waterproof?

On the soft shell products page there is a short video demonstrating the water shedding. Our jackets are technically only water resistant. Water proofing requires special double seems and special zippers, typically the price for those type of jackets starts around $300 USD.

The sweatshirt versions of our jackets have polyester pockets that are water resistant, so this will protect your electronics in a surprise shower. Our older models can withstand about 2 hours in the rain and the newer Joey models can last about 1 hour in the rain. The material they are made from is a trade off, the more water resistant it is then the less it breathes.

Are Your Jackets Fair Trade?

Our Travel Jackets are made by both a family friend in Northern China as well as an MCT (Clothing Manufacturer). Our Family friend is a small independent master tailor. We have been to her shop many times. She employs 4-5 adults. She sources our materials from her local suppliers for quality control. Our MCT employs 30-35 people and all are adults we have been to their facility many times. We are aware of the many abuses in the garment industry as a whole  in fact more than half of the worlds imported garments are made by people who are not paid more than $1 per day. We not willing to ever use a child labor shop from a impoverished third world country to manufacture our Jackets.

Can I make the Sweatshirt Jacket more water-resistant?

All the pockets are water-resistant already. However, if you would like to add water resistance to the outer shell of the Sweatshirt Jacket and do not have chemical sensitivities, we recommend adding Scotchgard to the outside.

Can I pay with Amazon points?

The pay with Amazon feature at the time of writing does not let you use your points at Amazon on our website. You are only able to use your Amazon account to pay for it via our website. It is not actually a transaction on Amazon. We do have our jackets on Amazon, however coupons and promotions do not apply.

Can I wash the jackets normally?

Yes you can. Ours is the only full featured travel jacket that does not require special washing and drying conditions. Other jackets have attached gizmos or plastic parts or metal parts that can not be washed or dried without special considerations. You can also use a stain remover such as “shout” with our jackets.

What is your warranty and exchange policy?

Returns and Exchanges (Please include packing slip and a note clearly stating you would like an exchange or refund. )

In cases unrelated to defects, we accept returns and exchanges for up to 45 days from the original purchase date. For Jackets past the 45 days or for jackets that have been used we retain the right to refuse an exchange or refund.

We guarantee our Travel Jackets to be free of workmanship defects and provide exchanges for defective jackets for one year from the date of purchase.

You will be responsible for paying the shipping to return your unwanted garment back to us.

Due to our fulfillment center, replacement shipping can take 10-12 business days.

Claims for an item not received must be filed within 30 days of the shipping date.

Custom sized Jackets can not be returned for a refund.

Items Purchased through third parties are subject to their own rules.

Items purchased via promotional pricing or clearance do not include shipping back to you in the case of unwanted (size or color) exchanges.

What size do I need to order?

Most people need to consider ordering a size larger than their shirt size (especially if you plan on using the zip-in liner or like to wear sweaters). Please refer to the size chart for more information. It is the big black button near the price.

Why are all the zippers on the left?

Unlike buttons, zippers have no established right or wrong side. The right side zipper is pretty much a USA thing only. It has a bit of history if you want to google it. The rest of the world is however primarily left. About 40% of our business is international so we do not make separate versions just for this particular USA fashion custom. So we designed all of our jackets to zip on the left after testing demonstrated that left side zippers were easier to use for both men and women.

Why don’t these jackets have even more pockets?

Our jackets have been meticulously designed to provide optimal functionality. The current design is what has been tested and proven to provide maximum security and usability. Some jackets on the market have more pockets, but they do not add value due to being too small to use, lacking secure closure and proper placement.

Will a large iPad fit in any of the pockets?

A large iPad will comfortably fit into the largest pocket, except for in a size S jacket. Size S will fit an iPad Mini or a Kindle.

Here I am again in this fabulous red Travel Jacket - the most perfect travel jacket I have ever worn.
As we step into our 4th travel month and leave Australia and New Zealand, I'll continue wearing this jacket through Bhutan and elsewhere - I love it!
Thank you!

I love this jacket. Great jacket. I have literally had some very important papers on me and been caught out in the rain and had no way to protect my papers other than this jacket. There are pockets inside the lining for basically anything you would carry with you. I love that. I think that it's really stylish and well made jacket. I don't get wet underneath of it which means I don't have to carry an umbrella. The zippered chest pocket is really great because it really does keep everything dry. Even inside of the large zippered pocket there is a velcro pocket inside of it. I think this is the great jacket for days of misty light rain and you want to go jogging or hiking still. I think you should go ahead and get this jacket. I would only advise caution with the zipper.

I ordered this jacket and got it right before a rainy trip to New York City for business. My iPad fit perfectly in the side pocket which worked out great for me moving from Plane to Baggage Claim and then Uber. There is a spot for everything you need. My jacket repelled the water so no wetness on phone, iPad, wallet, and Bluetooth Headset.

I own the sweatshirt model and it is very heavy, will probably order the windbreaker on as most of my travel is in the Southern US and Central America. While it's fine for those airports they keep at 68 degrees you definitely have to strip it off the minute you leave the airport.

I found the two lower inside pockets a bit of a challenge .. both pockets have velcro that split them into two pockets and elastic bands for water bottles. I don't carry two bottle of water with me so didn't need both pockets to have water bottle holders. The velcro divider splits the pocket into two, one side being only 3" wide by 9" deep .. don't know what to put in it .. anything I own that's only 2-1/2 wide is not anywhere near 9" tall so it falls to bottom of the pocket where I can not reach it .. my fingers aren't 9" long. The side that has the eyeglass cloth, the cloth fits in the 3" pocket and sinces it's attached at the top you don't lose it. That is the side I left the elastic and velcro in and just use it as my water bottle and eyeglass cloth pocket. The other side I only found usable by removing the elastic water bottle strap and the velcro and just making it a 9"x9" single pocket, had to remove the elastic strap as you couldn't slide things into the pocket without it getting caught on the strap.

As a female let's just say the breast pockets are breast pockets. For me it winds up being a 4 pocket jacket with a pen holder .. and one pocket is just water bottle and eyeglass cloth.

Do love the thumbhole sleeves and the sleep mask.

Great product. I used it instead of carry-on bag when flying this last time. I am very happy with the pocket distribution!

I use the jacket for international travel and as a spectator at outdoor sports. One complaint is that the zipper sometime snags.

I have the original Windbreaker and it has been GREAT! My husband is stationed out of state and so I try to visit him at least once a month, which means I have given much use to this jacket. So far, in the year that I have had this jacket, it has traveled with me to 3 countries (2 continents) and 5 states. We have a toddler who comes with me. Having the travel jacket has allowed me to travel with one less bag to worry about. I have been able to stuff a 10" tablet in the inside pocket along with a travel fishing game, 2 mini Tsum Tsum plushies, a couple of Hot-wheels, a Thomas the train, 3 pull-ups, travel wipes, a folding step stool, hand sanitizer, a sippy cup, 3 external chargers, my earphones, my phone (S7), a couple of snacks, and still have one free pocket for the boarding pass.
The way I have organized the jacket, I have been able to access the contents easily and quickly.
The windbreaker can get a little warm by itself, but I tend to layer it over a sweatshirt for extra cushion and warmth.
If I were to have a complain, it would be that the hood is pointy when I place it on my head and I wish it were just a bit deeper because it does slip off. I use the eye-mask to hold the hood onto my head, which makes it look a bit funny sometimes.
Appearance: It looks good enough for day to day wear. (without the hood up) And despite having my pockets stuffed, it does not look bulky and the weight is distributed well.

I just got my travel jacket, and I love the fit. It is longer than many travel jackets, fitting down over my hips, which is perfect. My husband and I travel all over the world with high school students each summer, and I cannot wait to wear this jacket on our next trip! The inside pockets that will hold my iPad or Kindle, and also my water bottle are amazing! The smaller pockets for my passport and phone will be equally helpful. And I feel that outer pockets that zip are essential. I have looked a long time for a women's travel jacket with these large and versatile inner pockets, and I finally found one with Global Travel Clothing Company. Thank you!!
